The inclusion of an HDMI ARC port is important because it allows the soundbar to work like it’s part of the TV: When you power up your source device (such as a streaming media player or a cable/satellite receiver), both the TV and the soundbar should automatically power up and switch to their correct inputs, and the remote for the TV or media player allows you to control the soundbar’s volume. A basic ARC connection can pass compressed audio formats, while the newer eARC connection (enhanced Audio Return Channel) can pass an uncompressed Atmos signal, if both the TV and soundbar support eARC.
